Lutèce Café
About This Spot
Stepping into Lutèce Café feels like slipping into a well-loved neighborhood refuge, where the rhythm of Parisian life slows just enough to savor simple pleasures. Nestled along the lively boulevard of Charonne, this brasserie embraces a casual, easygoing atmosphere that hums softly with the chatter of locals gathered for their regular pause. The generous terrace invites both lively conversation and quiet moments with a coffee or an aperitif, framing the everyday with an unassuming charm.
Inside, the space balances warmth with a lively fussiness: the clatter of cutlery and quiet laughter blend with the scent of freshly brewed coffee and the occasional waft of grilled fare. It’s a place where families feel welcome, and groups of friends spill over plates that are as comforting as they are thoughtfully crafted. Whether it’s the feeling of kicking back with a chilled glass of Aperol Spritz or settling into a simple coffee paired with a buttery croissant, the pace here is gentle and unpretentious.
The menu mirrors this inviting mix of familiarity and discovery. From rustic, homey dishes like ravioles and hearty burgers to lighter, nuanced plates that highlight fresh vegetables and the sea’s offerings, every meal feels like a quiet nod to both tradition and everyday delight. The portions invite sharing, the flavors straightforward yet satisfying, and the beverages—from robust coffees to a well-chilled beer—are companions to easy moments rather than rushed ones.
What truly sets Lutèce Café apart is a sense of belonging. It’s a space where locals gather routinely, a corner of Paris where the neighborhood’s pulse can be felt through friendly exchanges and the casual comfort of a place that welcomes both routine visits and serendipitous discovery. For those who wander just a little beyond the city center, it offers a gentle reminder that some of the most authentic experiences are found not in grand gestures, but in the simple act of sitting down, enjoying the moment, and sharing a meal.

Lutece was a cafe we passed almost daily during my stay and it was always busy. We decided to stop by and eat there. They didn't have eggs burgundy but I saw that as a menu item from over a year ago so I wasn't disappointed. I tried the Lutece pizza and it was amazing. More than I could eat myself and very delicious. Good beer and prices as well. The menu is offered in a variety of languages via QR code. The servers were also very attendant and friendly. They spoke English which is good because my French is dreadfully bad. It was a great cafe which the locals seemed to pack in daily.

Great food and big portion! Price is very reasonable and the service is friendly. Most customers are locals so I tried to speak in my broken French. It’s a bit far from the city center but close to the Nation station. Worthy it to visit if you happen in the neighborhood.

The place is nice to enjoy a beer or to eat. The terrace is huge and smoking is allowed so be aware that if the front door is open then inside it will smell like a lot of smoke. The food is good and they are very kind and have a good service.
